Sending

How big can a transfer be?

Up to 5 GB per transfer on Free, 250 GB on Ultimate and 1 TB on Teams. That's the total for everything in the transfer, not a limit per file.

How many files can I send at once?

Up to 2,000 files in one transfer on Free, and up to 10,000 on Ultimate and Teams.

Can I send whole folders?

Yes. Drag a folder onto the upload panel, or pick one when you add files. Subfolders come along too, so there's no need to zip anything first.

Can I pause an upload, or carry on after my connection drops?

Yes. Pause and resume whenever you like. If your connection drops, the upload continues once you're back online. If you reload the page or close the tab, come back in the same browser and you can resume from where it stopped instead of starting over.

How long are my files kept?

You choose when you send. On Free, a transfer stays available for up to 7 days. On Ultimate and Teams, for up to 365 days. When a transfer expires, its files are deleted automatically.

Can I delete a transfer before it expires?

Yes. If you have an account, open your dashboard and delete the transfer. The link stops working and the files are deleted. Sent it without an account? Open the confirmation email we sent you and use the "Manage or delete this transfer" link.

What counts toward the monthly transfer limit?

On Free, you can send 10 transfers each calendar month. Each transfer counts once, however many files or recipients it has. Ultimate and Teams have no monthly limit.

Why do I need to verify my email address?

If you send without an account, we email you a 6-digit code before your transfer is delivered. It proves the address is yours and keeps spammers out. You can keep uploading while you wait for the code. Once you've verified, this browser remembers you for 30 days, so you won't need a code every time. Transfers that are never verified are deleted after 24 hours.

Receiving

Do recipients need an account?

No. Recipients open the link, from their email or wherever you shared it, and download. No account, no app.

Can recipients preview files before downloading?

Yes. Images, video, audio and PDFs open right in the browser. Recipients can download files one by one, or everything as a single ZIP.

How do download limits work?

On Ultimate and Teams, you can cap how many times a transfer can be downloaded. Downloads are counted per visit, not per file: if someone opens the transfer and downloads every file, one at a time or as a ZIP, that counts as one download. Once the limit is reached, the link stops working.

What happens when a transfer expires?

Its files are deleted, and the download page shows when the transfer expired. We can't bring the files back, so the sender will need to send them again. Senders get a reminder email before a transfer expires.

Plans & billing

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel at any time from the billing section of your account. You keep your paid features until the end of the period you've already paid for, then your account moves to the Free plan.

Do you offer refunds?

We don't refund partly used billing periods. If you think you've been charged by mistake, email support@movemyfiles.com and we'll sort it out.

How does Teams billing work?

One subscription covers the whole team, billed per seat. The person who sets up the team manages members and billing, and everyone on the team gets Teams limits.

Privacy & security

Where are my files stored?

In a private bucket on Linode (Akamai) Object Storage in Frankfurt, Germany. Our website runs on Hetzner servers in Nuremberg, Germany. Our privacy policy lists every provider we use.

Do you look at my files?

No, not as a matter of routine. We only access a transfer when we have to act on an abuse report or respond to a valid legal request.

Are my files encrypted?

Your files are encrypted in transit: uploads and downloads always travel over TLS (HTTPS). They're stored in a private bucket that isn't publicly accessible, and download links are signed and expire after a short time. We don't offer end-to-end encryption. If you need it, encrypt your files before you upload them and share the password separately.

Do you use tracking cookies?

No. No analytics and no advertising trackers. We only use cookies the site needs to work, plus two that remember choices you make. Our cookie policy lists every one.
